Introduction to Courses for Academic Progress

 The options in this section are suitable for any student whose main priority is examination progress. They all offer a very high degree of exposure to English, French, German, Italian or Spanish every day of the student’s stay. This may be for GCSE, AS/A2, IB, Advanced Placement tests or other important national exams. For overseas students, the English courses are suitable for those who need to make serious progress in English in preparation for upcoming examinations in any subject which must be written in English or who write well but are not fluent speakers. High Achievers recommends a minimum of at least two weeks total immersion for a first course abroad; this is necessary in order to break through the fluency barrier.

It must be pointed out that although these courses put the student in the right place to make rapid progress, all improvement is entirely dependent on the individual’s effort, and High Achievers does not recommend parents insisting on sending a student against his or her wishes.

There is no “best course,” but students will probably have individual preferences. Please telephone for advice if necessary.
